cimetière du montparnasse



i don't take pictures in cemeteries but i really enjoyed these two sculptures. the picture on the very top is a sculpture called "the kiss" by brancusi and the bottom picture is the cemetery's centerpiece genie du sommeil eternel, angel of eternal sleep, by horace daillon.

Why don't you take pictures in cemeteries, may I ask? I, myself, do take pictures in cemeteries. In fact, I have gone by myself to cemeteries before to take pictures. Interesting. :)

my mom always told me it was very impolite to take pictures at cemeteries. so i don't do it.
i don't take pictures inside temples either. when i was in kyoto visiting various temples my japanese boss told me not to take any. he couldn't really explain why. i think it's considered disrespectful to do so.
